The Secret
Hello,
I am writing because I want to share my pregnancy announcement video. My hubby and I wanted to do something different to announce that we are going to have another baby and we also really wanted to incorporate our almost three-year-old daughter. My hubby, who is a graphic designer and videographer, and I came up with this idea and I thought you ladies might be interested in seeing it.

Heartbeat

I’m sorry this post is going up so late. I really wanted to share the recording of the baby’s heartbeat from my doctor’s appointment on Monday, but it wasn’t as simple to get it uploaded here as I thought it would be. After a few rounds of trial and error, I finally figured it out!
My mom came with me to this appointment since my husband couldn’t make it, so she gets credit for pressing record on my iphone (thanks Mr. Jobs). Be sure to listen all the way to the end. You’ll hear my relief after hearing the baby’s heartbeat for the first time!
I love seeing our baby on the ultrasounds, but hearing the heartbeat is pretty amazing as well. It’s so loud and strong! My doctor said I can go get the anatomy scan in two or three weeks. I’m really excited to see the little one again, but I hope my husband and I can keep the envelope sealed until Thanksgiving! He keeps changing the plan, that dear husband of mine. Now, he wants to open the envelope alone in the morning before we go to my parents’ and then surprise them together in some way. We’ll see how everything pans out…

Real or Fake?
This little guitar player is a bit TOO good to be real. -But at this rate he will definitely be able to beat his dad soon!
BTW, does this kind of stuff happen to anyone else when they leave babies home with dad? Last time I came home and John was watching the kids, Harper was using our Rosetta Stone Mandarin software!
Telling the Family
we are currently accepting guest contributors on Spearmintbaby.com. this post is by Lorean of my hodgepodge…
A friend of mine recently found out she was pregnant and shared the video of her telling her family. It was so cute and I loved seeing everyone’s reactions. It made me think about when we told our families that we were pregnant last year so I thought I’d share the video with all of you lovely readers! It seems like just yesterday. I can’t believe that we already have a 6.5 month old!
A little backstory: We hadn’t told anyone that we were “not preventing”, if you will, so my family was definitely not expecting this! I found out that I was pregnant on Tuesday, January 19 and of course told David that day. We were both a little shocked but excited.
I was going out of town the following Monday for a week on a business trip (to the Grammy’s, but that’s another story!) and I knew it would be while before we could tell our families if we didn’t do it that weekend. Luckily both of our families live in the same town so we were able to tell them at the same time. That Monday, the 25 was my mom’s birthday so we decided to head to Durham on Sunday and surprise my mom for her birthday. She didn’t even know we were coming in town. We arranged to meet at a restaurant and invited my grandmother, aunt, and David’s parents.
We had stopped on the way out of town that morning and bought a new digital camera (which we were planning to buy anyway for my trip) and two bibs that said “I Love Grandma”. We wrapped them up and decided to tell our moms that the gifts were just a little leftover present from Christmas that we had forgotten to give them.
Sorry the camera’s a little shaky. David was trying not to be too obvious at first that he was videotaping!

Medicating Children
Tens of thousands of preschoolers are prescribed powerful anti-psychotic drugs, but some psychiatrists say that pills are a simple solution to a complex problem.
this video made me sad. do you think that these kids are really psychotic…or are they just a product of their environment? what are your thoughts?
