Nursery Color Palettes Inspired By Art Work
I am a huge sucker for Etsy. Obsessed, addicted and all of the above. I just like to browse the oh-so-pretty site. It’s beyond inspiring. And well, last week I realize how inspiring it really can be when I was browsing art work for my nursery in progress. So many of the beautiful prints can really help you create the perfect focal point and color palette for your nursery. Don’t believe me? Check out a few of my favorite pieces of art I found for the gallery wall or just to hang over the bed and see just how the colors come alive. Just add art.

Mini Piccolini’s DIY Discovery Bottles
This is actually a project I did a while back, but Little A has been spending some time with these Discovery Bottlesalmost every day since then. I would definitely recommend this as an easy project to do for your baby or toddler! I made six bottles:
- Baby oil, water and food color
- Water and little mosaic tiles
- Baby oil and pins
- Water, food colour and dishwashing liquid
- Water and glitter
- Air and “puffs”
They were really really easy to make. Just fill clean plastic bottles with whatever you want and then hot glue the lids on.
We brought out the bottles when Alec and his little friend Sigge were playing. Alec was 13 months old and Sigge was 20 months old. They were both really into the bottles, especially Alec. The bottle with the puffs was hands-down his favourite and he has been playing with it since he first got his hands on it. Both of the boys were also very into the mosaic tiles in water, which make an attractive sound when you shake them or roll them across the floor. Sigge immediately put the pins in baby oil bottle in his mouth and then Alec did too. We couldn’t figure out why (neither of them tasted any of the other bottles, and there was no scent or anything on the baby oil bottle to make it especially yummy). Us adults all thought that the baby oil and water bottle would be the most exciting for the kids, but they weren’t too impressed by that one. We did notice that the kids handled the smaller bottles more than the larger ones, so perhaps the bigger ones were too heavy for them to really handle and discover. If you have babies or toddlers at home and are considering this project, I would really recommend it. It’s very easy and fast to prep and the six bottles I made did keep the kids’ attention for quite some time.

Play Rooms are for Fun
Hi, I’m Susi, a blogger for Arcadian Lighting, where I write about lighting and interior design ideas. I’m so happy to be here at Spearmint Baby today as a guest blogger! My post is all about fun play rooms. There are some amazing play rooms out there filled with lots of creative ideas for furniture, light fixtures and wall art. I hope these inspire you to create one in your home. Enjoy!

Color, color and color makes for a fun play room. This play room is filled with creativity, from activities to the colorful garland.

Color is so important for creating a fun play room. This play room has a travel theme to inspire young travelers. From globes and maps to suitcases and souvenirs, the travel theme adds color as well as interest.

Chalkboard paint is a great idea for the walls of a fun play room. You could choose classic black chalkboard paint or from a wide array of chalkboard paints in everything from pink to orange to brown.

A window seat or bench provides a comfortable place to hang out, read a book or even nap. This gender neutral play room uses red, blue and white in cheerful patterns.

Cleverly designed shelves become steps to a nook and slide. Great for older kids, this play room has great open space for expending energy and a nook for quiet time. Track lights and spot lights are perfect choices for this well-designed room.

Fun in the play room means lots of toys. Lots of toys means there is a need for clever organization, like these various size cubes on the wall to hold books, toys and tiny treasures.

For older kids, this two level play room is a fun idea. Bright colors and tons of visual interest engage young minds.

The ultimate fun playroom has a swing… and a slide. Great creativity makes this play room one of our faves for multiple ages. Recessed ceiling lights provide good illumination in this cool space. I love the tree with the swing—it’s so charming!
