Two Thousand Fifteen

Happy New You

A new opportunity to improve your old self. There’s just something exciting about the feeling of starting fresh. It’s like you’re given another chance. If we weren’t given new years we might’ve never broken bad habits or taken the time to reflect and aim for our goals. It’s a little bit of a wake up call and it makes me happy to be alive.

Cheers to 2015!

Navy For The Nursery

I received a collection of prints from Lindsay Letters earlier in the week. (if you follow me on INSTAGRAM) you already got a sneak peak!) I was so inspired by this bold/NAVY Adventure print. I want to repeat this message OUT LOUD to Harper & Rex every day!

Anyone using NAVY in their nursery? NAVY is a fab color for boys, but would work really well for a gender neutral room as well. If I was using a lot of Navy I’d paint the walls crisp white for an amazing contrast. Here are a few of my current NAVY faves:

1. Be Brave Print
2. Navy & White Stripe Cylinder Light
3. Oliver B Crib Sheet, White/Navy
4. Navy Moon Pillow
5. Appaman Hockey Jersey – Galaxy
6. Navy Kånken Mini
7. Blue Dress w/ Neon Yellow Bow (not exactly NAVY, but this dress is on clearance at Target for $8 & I just LOVE it!)
8. Blue Wooden Bead Teether
9. Navy Greek Key Blanket
10. Navy Striped Tube Socks for Baby (i’m loving that tube socks are back in style!)
11. Polka Dot Bear

Nursery Inspired by Painting

Large Blue Abstract Painting
Eclipse Chandelier – 12″W – White
“Petite Vegas Boneyard” LED letter initial light
OFELIA Blanket, white
Fox Mask
Black French Tassel Window Panel
Light Grey Apple shaped cushion/soft toy
Philippe Starck Style Louis Ghost Chair FOR KIDS
Blue and Turquoise Chevron hand printed lumbar size linen pillow case
White and Gray Polka Dot Crib Sheet

Today’s nursery mood board was inspired by the Blue Abstract Painting. I’ve been feeling the winter chill way too much this week, so I wanted to put together a room in the colors that remind me most of winter: BLUE, GREY, & WHITE.

I think this nursery would work equally well for boys as girls. Perhaps a good color scheme for your surprise baby? The walls could remain white or you could paint them a very subtle silvery-grey. I’d go with a white crib. Any style would work but something on the modern side would look sharp! or maybe an affordable Jenny Lind?

Happy Decorating & have a fabulous weekend, Shari

Good morning! Today I wanted to share some of my favorites from Serena & Lily. Instead of picking random things, I decided to make a mood board…

Everything in this mood board is from Serena & Lily except the orange painting. The inspiration for the room was actually the orange/blue stripe baby sleeper. ORANGE and BLUE seem like the perfect colors to incorporate into a gender neutral room. Because these are bold colors I chose to tone down the rest of the room with furniture & accessories in light neutrals. Don’t be afraid to mix whites, creams, greys, and beiges. They can actually compliment each other nicely!

Abstract Painting, IKEA SVINGA Hanging Seat, SVEIO Chest, pillow cover, silver pink polka dot hippoOrbit Chandelier, charcoal fur beanbag, Purple Striped Sheets, Aqua Blue Jenny Lind Twin Bed

Good Morning!

I found this painting on Saatchi Online last night and thought it was really beautiful. Maybe it is a bit more appropriate for the living room, but I loved the colors so much and thought it would be fun to put together a mood board for a little girl’s room.

I’ve loved the Jenny Lind bed in AZURE forever. I actually considered buying it for Harper before I decided to use a queen sized bed in her room. Is anyone using a colored Jenny Lind Crib or bed? I also think this IKEA chest is pretty fabulous. It reminds me of contemporary designer furniture, but is only $250!

Enjoy your afternoon! I am off for a relaxing day to myself…shopping and lunch. Should be fun!

Abstract MINI Painting, Eames White Elephant, Muslin Kids Teepee, wooden trees, orange leather poufCobalt BLUE Dresser, white circle mobile, Green Circle Organic Crib Sheet, car stroller blanket, Mercer 3-in-1 Convertible Crib in Espresso Color: Babyletto

Happy Friday! Any plans this weekend?  We are hoping to do some pumpkin picking and I’d love to finish painting Harper’s headboard & footboard.  After that I am done with furniture makeovers for awhile!

This nursery mood board is inspired by the orange/green painting. Isn’t it cute? Kind of goes with the fall/halloween season.  I LOVE orange & green for a boy’s room. What colors are you using for your guy’s nursery?

Painting by Me, All Lovely Stuff Animal Hook, heart cotton bag, Pink Bertoia Baby Wire Chair, Bamboo Throw in Aqua, grey linen + neon YELLOW pillow coverHEMNES 8-Drawer Dresser, Punch Basics Diaper Changing Cover, Mint Fitted Crib Sheet, Between a Rock Lamp Base (Silver), Aqua-Lee Blabla Doll, Sparrow Crib in Birch, Mint Green Bubble Glass Knobs

Good morning! It finally feels like fall here in southern NJ & it is so refreshing.

Last night I put together this nursery mood board inspired by the pastels in one of my new paintings. This is definitely a modern girl’s room, but there is no shortage of color. I think one of my favorite finds for the room is the solid mint crib sheet. I just love the look of a solid colored crib sheet in a modern crib. (no bumper or crib skirt needed.) Just a pretty blanky hand made by Grandma!

P.S. Most of the items in this room are pretty budget friendly. The only really expensive piece is the crib. The GULLIVER Crib in Birch would be my budget friendly alternative.

Nursery Color Palettes Inspired By Art Work

I am a huge sucker for Etsy. Obsessed, addicted and all of the above. I just like to browse the oh-so-pretty site. It’s beyond inspiring. And well, last week I realize how inspiring it really can be when I was browsing art work for my nursery in progress. So many of the beautiful prints can really help you create the perfect focal point and color palette for your nursery. Don’t believe me? Check out a few of my favorite pieces of art I found for the gallery wall or just to hang over the bed and see just how the colors come alive. Just add art.

TOUKAI CHIHOU print, KRITTER chair, HAGGAS pendant lamp, black paper bunting, mint tiger, mint shelf, Loom crib, triangle tape, red polka dot crib sheet, wooden ampersand, red T-REX, frog pillow

I saw the TOUKAI CHIHOU art print on last night and fell in love with the combination of colors. So, I thought it would be fun to put together a nursery mood board with this palatte:

I’ve chosen mostly modern accessories for this room. The crib is the most expensive piece. The chandelier & blue chair are budget accessories from IKEA. The mint shelf is the one vintage piece… I love it! (& I love to mix vintage & modern accessories.) You could use the shelf to display small toys & decorative accessories. Or wash out your glass baby food jars & store baby cutips, cotton balls, etc on this shelf. I am really obsessed with Washi tape lately & found this pretty green triangle patterned tape. It is perfect for taping a paper bunting over the crib.

Finish alphabet poster, IKEA 365+ BRASA pendant lamp, SQUARE CUTOUT 6-DRAWER DRESSER, crochet bunny, Watermelon velvet quilt cover, black/white polka dot pillow, blue spot pillowcase, Sundvik Bed, gold figurines

Wednesday…but does it feel like Friday to anyone else? I just finished up my bagel and cream cheese, not toasted. While browsing Big Cartel stores this morning I found this fabulous alphabet print by RK Design.

So, I thought I’d change up my weekly Inspired by Wallpaper post this week. Isn’t this print the the perfect inspiration for a modern, colorful toddler room?

The colors that stood out to me most were the oranges and blues. The crochet bunny & velvety quilt cover are splurges. To offset the cost, I included one of my FAVORITE pendant lamps from IKEA. (a serious bargain.) I also LOVE the SUNDVIK bed. The grey/brown color makes it look much more expensive than it’s $124 price tag!
