I’ve decided to start the gift idea fun with girls… Harper’s birthday is super close to Christmas and so I’ve been focusing primarily on her so far. She’ll be getting one of the items on this gift idea board. Can you guess which one? (I’ll share it once it arrives on my Instagram page: @spearmintbaby)
If you have a 3-5 year old daughter, what kinds of items are you picking out for her this year? I’d love to hear!

You know when you pull your gloves off and your hands are all dry & wrinkly looking?… Hello Mellow body butters moisturize on the spot! Plus they smell delicious too. Made of avocado butter, mango butter, and essential oils.
2. I was recently sent the Tomboy Traveler set & the 4.8v Revolver Power Screwdriver by Tomboy Tools. EVERY girl should have their own tool set & this Christmas that is just what a few of my friends are getting! I think my hubby is secretly jealous of my matching PINK tools!

for the Guys:
1. Whiskey Stones are perfect for the most refined drinker. They will keep his liquor perfectly chilled without diluting any flavors. Just freeze the natural soapstones and use them like ice. & they are endlessly reusable…oh so sophisticated!
2. My own hubby is getting the Wahl Lithium Ion 3-in-1 Shaver. The 3-in-1 Shaver offers a full size shaver, trimmer and detailer in an all-in-one grooming system. I do like my man well groomed! BTW, you can also purchase at Target.
for the Kiddos:
1. The Tegu Dart Racer is not just a cute car. It is pretty clever– with 10 classic Tegu blocks, a signature magnetic styling top, and 4 magnetic wooden wheels your little one will be able to make all kinds of mobile creations! I know my 2 year old would LOVE building his own car.
2. The perfect new shoes for your best friend’s smooth little man, Cole Haan Kids Mini Cory Bit shoes are so so sweet I couldn’t resist!
3. In addition to giving away 40 of these on the blog tomorrow, my children will also be getting the Puj Snug. Cute as an elephant, soft, and sweet, Puj has created the ultimate spout cover to protect your children during bath time.
4. & finally for your nature loving neighbor’s son, Earth Blocks are made from recycled materials (including the bark of cedar trees!) VERY cool!
Still shopping? GOOD! I have a few more suggestions for the littlest member of your family. Baby may be too little to have a Christmas toy list, but will really appreciate these things that will keep him cozy and comfortable during his first year in the world!
* Bamboo Swaddles & Bamboo Crib Sheets are made of silky rayon from bamboo fiber muslin. Keep baby cozy all winter with something that is soft on his/her skin. (you can use the swaddles as lightweight blankets & keep one in your diaper bag too!)
* The Serenity Star is the all in one nursery accessory. It’s the first system to combine an electronic feeding diary, room temperature indicator, sound machine, nightlight and clock—all in one. Simplify baby’s room with just one pretty white star that does it all!
* The mum + bub™ skin care line is gentle enough for baby, yet sophisticated enough for you. mum + bub™ is infused with fresh, fermented pawpaw fruit which is known in Australia to relieve, cleanse, and protect that baby soft skin!
It is also free of the following:
phytoestrogen + parabens + added hormone disrupters + petroleum oils + phthalates + dioxanes from sulfates + gluten and soy + petrochemicals + DEA + artificial colors
For the luxurious baby that prefers classic baby clothes that never go out of style, check out PAIGELAUREN Baby. PAIGELAUREN Baby makes clothes that are simple & unadorned. They rely on luxurious fabrics, fine tailoring, and subtle details. The result is somehow both modern and classic, and assuredly luxurious.
My girlfriend is expecting her 3rd baby on January 11th. It is her first BOY after 2 little GIRLS! Check out what I picked out for the little guy below. HAPPY SHOPPING!
Hair accessories are perfect to stuff into your little girl’s stocking on Christmas Eve. There are sooo many fabulous places for beautiful hair accessories & these are 3 of my favorites:
1. Little Miss Millie’s Boutique is a Mother & Daughter team that make the most beautiful one-of-a-kind headbands. Seriously, if you have a baby girl you will LOVE this store. AMAZING quality & affordable prices!
2. Crawlings.com has an adorable collection of clips, headbands, & pony tail holders. & check out their packaging. It is so cute, you can hang it in your daughter’s bedroom! One of my current favorites are the Ram Clips with Crystals
3. Emi-Jay was started by teenage entrepreneurs Emily and Julianne. Inspired by their passion for fashion, the two young girls set out to create quality, modern day hair ties. Emi-Jay™ headbands and hair ties are simple yet versatile accessories perfect to go with any outfit. The hair ties come in pretty much any color and best of all you can layer them on your arm….they double as a chic bracelets!
Are you looking for the perfect plush pal for your little one this holiday season? Check out Kimochis®. Kimochis plush toys have unique personalities and stories behind each character. Kimochis also have real feelings. I love this about them!
Harper has Cat, who lately has been super happy. Harper gets to decide whether she is happy, sad, angry…you name it! Rexy has Cloud. Cloud is usually happy…as long as Cat is happy! But he sometimes gets angry or sad. (kind of like my moody 2 year old!)
Kimochis are an effective tool to help families:
• Identify and express feelings
• Solve behavioral problems
• Communicate openly
• Resolve conflicts
• Build closer relationships and have fun!
There are 7 different 13″ Kimochis characters: Bella Rose, Cloud, Bug, Clover, Cat, Huggtopus, & Lovey Dove:
Each one comes with 3 feelings which can be stored in your Kimochis’ pocket. With each 13″ Kimochis you will also get the 48 page Feel Guide which has lots of fun and easy activities. $24.99
Each of the 7 characters also comes in a 6″ mini version, the mini Kimochis, as well. $16.99
You can also purchase all kinds of extra mixed feelings for your Kimochis: Jealous, Loved, Grateful, Scared, Shy, Kind, Hurt, Sorry, Uncomfortable, Friendly, Sleepy, Surprised, Embarrassed, Guilty, Excited, Happy, Mad, Sad, Brave, & Left Out!
Not only are Kimochis super clever, but I am obsessed with their cool packaging. Your kids would love opening one of these boxes on Christmas morning:
Anyone else obsessed with Appaman? I first learned about the brand when Rex’s best buddy, Aaron, was wearing this fabulous Navy Bowery Coat. His mom told me that it is their absolute FAVORITE brand. Her daughter Julia has the purple Appaman Puffy Coat.
Appaman is inspired by, and named after, the childhood companion of founder and designer Harald Husum. While growing up in Norway, Husum befriended a corduroy ape named Appaman. Together they traveled the fields and fjords of their native land, sharing many fantastic adventures. Appaman reflects the whimsical spirit of those youthful times and celebrates the unbreakable bond between a boy and his ape.
Appaman was launched in the summer of 2003 & every season Harold Husum brings a unique Scandinavian perspective to children’s street clothes. Some of my favorites for boys include the hockey jerseys, mini professor jackets, & their fab line of outerwear.
If you are looking for just.plain.cool. clothing for your 0-8 year old this holiday season, check out NUNUNU. No teddy bears or fairies, just cool urban clothes made of quality fabrics!
Harper is wearing the french terry baggy star pants & the pink “NO!” long sleeve tee. To find a store near you, click here. HAPPY SHOPPING!
Remember the 2 pieces that I picked out from Toto Knits? They arrived (all the way from Kenya) last week….& are just gorgeous! Every piece of clothing is hand knit by a group of single mothers in Kenya. Rex is already wearing his green & natural stripe organic cotton knit pants. I wrapped his Zebra sweater and it will be waiting under the tree on Christmas morning!
My absolute FAVORITE dolls for the holidays are the ones from the Designer Collection by Pottery Barn Kids. Pottery Barn challenged their designers to create a beautiful doll that was reminiscent of the artistry of homemade dolls from an earlier era. The ideas were so clever that they chose to make 10 of the dolls:
California Chic Girl Emmalee: Dressed in a pink cotton embroidered dress, sandals & matching pink ties in her hair.
Butterfly Ballerina: Dressed in a fluttering tulle tutu and pretty pink legwarmers.
City Girl Gigi: Dressed in a rainbow-colored tulle skirt and a white cotton top with ruffles at the neck.
Beach Girl Finley: Dressed in a Hawaiian print dress and matching blue moccasins.
Penny: Wears green lace-up boots on her long, slender limbs and a red felt hooded cape perfect for outings. She also has the most darling freckles!
Hollie: Dressed in a plaid skirt, white top and ice skates. Hollie also has felt and grosgrain ribbon details & braided yarn hair.
Jacqueline: Dressed in a boho printed dress with ribbons in her hair and a matching head scarf.
Divya: Dressed in a traditional Indian dress in a medley of pretty fabrics and golden sandals. Felt flowers adorn her hair.
Spring Princess: Dressed in an outfit stitched from an assortment of cotton, ribbon, tulle and felt. She also has yarn hair and a floral felt headband.
Snorkel Girl Manina: Sporting a red ruffled swimsuit, snorkel, mask and bright blue flippers.
I’d secretly love to have the entire collection for Harper, but I think 10 new dolls for a 4 year old is a little much! So, my top 3 favorites are Butterfly Ballerina, Snorkel Girl Manina, and City Girl Gigi. EEEK, I also LOVE Hollie & Penny. So hard to choose! Which is your favorite?
BTW, all of these dolls are 20% off right now + FREE shipping. HAPPY SHOPPING!
This year we wanted to jump on the colored Christmas Tree trend. Initially, we were going to get Harper a small PINK tree for her own room. Her birthday is 5 days before Christmas and we thought she could be her own little tree decorator. BUT after talking about it, she recommended a HUGE PURPLE tree.
We partnered up with Treetopia.com this year to bring home the brightest purple Christmas tree we could find! It was a bit too large for her room so we are using it as our living room tree. The kids LOVE it, & I have to admit I really like it too. At Treetopia you’ll find pretty much any COLOR tree you can imagine:
Some COLORFUL Christmas Tree decoring inspiration:
P.S. Treetopia.com is having a HUGE sale through December 6th. Up to 60% off + FREE shipping on orders over $100.
This month I’ve been sharing some of my favorite things for the holidays. Today I want to show you the GORGEOUS sweaters that I’ve picked out for Rexford and Harper from LOOP Collection. One of my FAVORITE new brands for beautiful apparel for children. & stunning blankets as well!
Founded in 2010 by two New York City knit designers, Loop Collection was born out of the idea that you should do something you love. I so agree with this philosophy. Working hard on your passion makes it much more fun, right?
If you haven’t seen Loop Collection’s sweaters and blankets in person, I guarantee they do not disappoint. They are the kind of pieces that you will keep forever…maybe even pass down to your grandkids one day.
The sweaters have a very cool vintage vibe. Color combinations are bold and beautiful…lots of MAROONS, DARK GREENS, MUSTARDS, & ROSY PINKS. I especially LOVE the cardigans with their chunky wooden buttons!
One more thing to note:
Each Loop Collection garment is proudly knit and assembled in the U.S.A. All materials: yarn, sustainably harvested wood buttons, & even packaging and labels are also domestically manufactured.
COUPON CODE: HOHOHO for 30% off until december 5th. HAPPY SHOPPING!
Don’t forget about the necessities this time of year! Whenever one of my children gets the sniffles, we turn on our Crane USA Drop Humidifier. Humidifiers are effective in relieving cough, cold, and flu symptoms which unfortunately come with the season. They are also VERY helpful in relieving stuffy noses/congestion, dry coughs, sinus irritation, & dry skin .
Crane USA makes some of the best humidifiers. In addition to them being extremely effective, they are pretty cute! Choose one of their modern Drop designs, or pick out one of their adorable animal humidifiers for the nursery. HAPPY SHOPPING!
I’m super excited to team up with Minted.com for our family’s holiday cards this year. Be sure to check them out. They make high quality, beautifully designed cards for the holidays…(+ weddings, baby showers, birth announcements…you name it!)
After spending hours trying to decide on our favorite design, my husband & I decided to go with the festive joy holiday photo cards. We were able to include each of our smiley kids + pup without stressing about getting a “perfect” photo. I just love how the cards turned out.
some of my other favorite design options:
P.S. my cards arrived 3 days after placing my order!
Happy Friday! Here are 14 adorable gift ideas from Babatude Boutique. My absolute favorite is #5- BEAUTIFUL & PURE merino wool hoodies from New Zealand. Baby would be so cute and cozy this winter!
Babatude Boutique ships worldwide and you’ll find something unique for all your little ones for the holidays. Happy shopping and have a great weekend, shari
There are so many beautiful handmade gifts for baby this year. On my list of favorites are Milk & Masuki blankets. Each blanket is designed and hand printed in Australia. They have gorgeous geometric patterns & are made from 100% organic cotton. Blankets also have a generous double layer for snugness.
Milk & Masuki blankets are perfect for the stroller & so soft for tummy time. I think they’d also be perfect to include in your baby’s portrait session. My pick = the Billy Blanket in APPLE. Happy Shopping!
For those of you with brand new little ones this holiday season, I wanted to share some of my favorites from the Burt’s Bees Baby holiday collection. Dress your baby up in something soft and cozy + 100% organic cotton!
I love the holiday collection because it is festive, but still very wearable after the holidays. My FAVORITE holiday outfit is the Bee Festive Tee Set. I loved it so much that I purchased it for my girlfriend’s brand new baby boy, Nolan. Check out how delicious it is on baby below:
P.S. Get 20% off & free shipping on your order of $85 or more! Enter BBBSANTA at checkout. TODAY only!
My favorite toddler backback, the Kånken Mini!
Not only the perfect size for your outdoorsy guy/girl, but the Kånken has a classic look & comes in pretty much any color. It was originally designed for Swedish school children in 1978 and the iconic backpack has become a favorite around the world. I love it’s vintage shape and the fact that it is made from durable, moisture repellent fabric. (BTW, you may also want one because they are the perfect size for your iPad!)
This Forest Green Kånken Mini will be under the tree for Rexy on Christmas morning:
If you are a true outdoorsman then you are probably already familiar with Fjällräven. If not, here is a brief synopsis:
In 1950 Åke Nordin, a 14-year-old boy from Örnsköldsvik in Northern Sweden, was about to go for a trek in the mountains. Åke, who spent more time outdoors than indoors, did not like the backpacks that were available at that time. He decided to take matters into his own hands and built a wooden frame. The frame improved the distribution of weight across the back. It was not only more comfortable to carry, but he could also carry more weight. This innovation gradually helped the outdoors become more accessible to a wider range of people.
The backpack frame & the support principles which still apply today, was the start of Åke’s company, Fjällräven, in 1960. The name Fjällräven means Arctic Fox in Swedish and the name is honoring the small predator which lives in the Swedish mountains in the harshest of climates. From a small room in the basement in Örnsköldsvik, Fjällräven has now expanded to almost all corners of the world.
…& lastly, stay tuned for Fjällräven Polar 2013. (or submit your application!) Fjällräven Polar is an approximately 300 km long winter adventure across the arctic tundra. The participants will steer a dog sled all the way from Signaldalen, Norway, to the forests around Jukkasjärvi, Swedish Lapland. Check out the video:
One of my FAVORITE must-haves for the season are Stonz® toddler boots. I received a pair of these for Rex this fall and I cannot tell you how much we LOVE them. The boots are made of durable nylon and lined with fleece. You can slip them on over your child’s socks, slippers, shoes or even bare feet! Rex just wears a pair of socks under his. Then, all you have to do is fasten the two adjustable toggles to keep them on his feet. It is sooo easy and FAST to get them on. Because Stonz boots are adjustable, your child will get more than one season out of them!
Seriously, one of my new favorite discoveries for children this year… a must for mamas that are always in a hurry! To purchase visit Stonzwear.com or Zappos.
Good Morning! Hope you enjoyed a relaxing holiday. We are back from a fabulous almost 2 week vacation to MN & AZ. I’ll be posting pics over on Spearmint Decor this week.
For the next few weeks I’ll be posting some of the things that will be under our tree on Christmas morning. Today I wanted to share a fun store to purchase cozy personalized things for your girl/guy/or maybe even your own bedroom. Butterscotch Blankees sells darling pillows and blankets that you can personalize with initials/names in colors to match your nursery/bedroom. They also sell hats, scarfs, & dresses.
The pillows and blankets are SUPER soft and cozy. (no itchy fabrics here!) This year Rexy will be getting a cute new pillow for his big boy bed which I am hoping to switch him to in Jan/Feb. I picked out my favorite design, the single border 15 X 15 pillow in black & white. Check it out below. (I am also eyeing the LOVE and ♥ pillows for Harper!)
**PURPLE Christmas Tree from Treetopia.com
Hi there! I’m Lauren from A Lovely Lark and I’m guest posting for Shari while she’s on her road trip. I thought it would be fun to share one of my gift guides here on Spearmint Baby with all of you today. I’ll be posting one or two gift guides each day up until Thanksgiving over on my blog, A Lovely Lark. Here’s an exclusive sneak peek of one that I’ll be posting later today for the babes:
11. Moover Baby Walker
12. Wooden Fox Teether
13. Meadow Flannel Stroller Blanket
What do you think about personalized gifts? My kids LOVE seeing their name on things and this Christmas they are each getting something personalized from Makaboo. Makaboo carries a curated selection of premier baby and children’s gifts. Their personalization tool allows you to customize your gift choice with a range of icons, colors and even placement options. Makaboo’s exclusively-designed icons are one-of-a-kind — you won’t find them anywhere else!
Rex will be getting the raccoon storage bin you see below. In addition to it being darling, it is really sturdy & has a plastic liner. This makes it really easy to wipe down the inside with antibacterial wipes. We are going to use it as his laundry basket.
Harper has been asking me for new mittens since fall arrived, so I got her a personalized scarf and mitten set. The set is so beautiful, pictures really don’t do it justice!

The holidays will be here before you know it… Hanukkah begins Saturday, December 8! I’ve decided to start my Holiday Gift Guide series EARLY for those that celebrate Hanukkah. Christmas still seems far away, but I swear every year it kind of sneaks up on me!
Today I want to share a new store I discovered earlier this fall. It is called Toto Knits. Founded by Erin Brennan Allan, Toto Knits is a line of organic cotton knitwear ethically made by a group of single mothers in Kenya. I love love love this!
Erin designs fun children’s apparel and then the group of knitters make the clothing. The knitters are paid by the piece which allows them to work as much or as little as they like. They are able to put their children first and work on the side to help support their families/communities. I REALLY love the business model & have so much admiration for those that start businesses that help so many! Not only is each piece of clothing made by hand, but it is also signed by the knitter.
Be sure to order early if you want something for the holidays. Because these pieces are hand knit they may take up to 2 weeks to complete. Allow time for overseas shipping as well.
