Baby Name List
Baby names are so much fun, especially when you don’t have the pressure of naming a person. I found it became much more difficult after getting pregnant with Violet. Luckily I think that we chose the perfect name – it suits her well and I still love it, but coming up with one that both the Hubster and I were in love with was really difficult. You can see a list of a few of my favorite names in 2009 here (I was about three months pregnant when I wrote this post. Random fact – Kate, Pippa, and William were coincidentally all on my list).
I think the game only gets harder after naming your first child, because of course you want the second child’s name to sound good with the first but not be too weirdly matchy. For example, now that we have a Violet I think all color/flower names are out (Lily, Scarlet, Olive, Rose, and Poppy to name a few). And it’s too bad – they’re such pretty names!
Anyway, I digress. Here are a few of my current favorite girl names:
And a few of my favorites for boys:
I created my word clouds over at Wordle – aren’t they fun? And here are a few of my favorite baby name sites:

I haven’t posted a name list for awhile, so I decided to ask my little sis for 10-20 names that would be on her list if she found out she was expecting. Her name choices are different, yet go with her personality… she tends to be very unique with everything she does! She owns a wedding planning business in Belize and her fave hobby is Yoga.
A few of the names on her list were on my baby name list as well: Iris, Margene, and Arthur. One of my faves on her girl list is Athena. I crossed that name off my list since my ex boyfriend had a dog named Athena. She was the most wonderful & beautiful Rottweiler! I also LOVE Winnie- it reminds me of sweet Winnie from The Wonder Years. My fave on her boy list is Ridge. What do you think?
do you have a name list? if you’d like to share, please email it to spearmintbaby@gmail.com (subject: Name List) please include 10-20 names for each gender that fit your style!
Jodie Sweetin of Full House
remember little Stephanie Tanner?
…she just had her 2nd child and i LOVE the name: Beatrix Carlen. Beatrix was actually on my long list but i don’t think my husband would have ever gone for it!
Michael Bezjian/WireImage
anyway, this news just makes me feel old! i loved watching Full House as a girl. i was at a friends for dinner a few months ago and she was saying how her kids like this show too. i cannot believe it is still so popular. do your kids watch it?

one of the most difficult and exciting things about having a baby is coming up with a name. (the difficult part is getting your husband to agree with your name choice!!) my husband does not agree easily with my unusual name picks, he tends to be more traditional and i am a tad out there!
so, i think it might be fun to play a game…post your top 10 favorite boy and top 10 favorite girl names on your blog. (feel free to play even if you are not expecting a baby any time soon!) add your name to the mcklinky list here:
