DIY Painted Hex Nut Bracelet
I’ve been on a pink and yellow kick lately. I’ve made these bracelets in the past, they take a little bit of time to get the hang of braiding in the hex nuts, but with a little patience and practice, you can easily get it done in about 20 minutes. I put a springtime spin on it by painting the hex nuts-and I looovveee how it turned out!

www.sophandlulu.com
I had most of this stuff around the house, so I only had to purchase the craft paint for $1.75 per bottle.
I painted the hex nuts using a foam brush and did about 3 thin coats, with about an hour of drying time in between coats.
Be sure to tape the ends of your twine to make it easier to string on the hex nuts. See a full tutorial for how to braid in the hex nuts here. The key to making this bracelet is to take it slow, and always keep the hex nuts pointing up towards the top of your bracelet as shown in the below pictures.
Wrap it around your wrist a couple times…and you’ve got a trendy and fresh new bracelet!
Navy For The Nursery

I received a collection of prints from Lindsay Letters earlier in the week. (if you follow me on INSTAGRAM) you already got a sneak peak!) I was so inspired by this bold/NAVY Adventure print. I want to repeat this message OUT LOUD to Harper & Rex every day!
Anyone using NAVY in their nursery? NAVY is a fab color for boys, but would work really well for a gender neutral room as well. If I was using a lot of Navy I’d paint the walls crisp white for an amazing contrast. Here are a few of my current NAVY faves:
1. Be Brave Print
2. Navy & White Stripe Cylinder Light
3. Oliver B Crib Sheet, White/Navy
4. Navy Moon Pillow
5. Appaman Hockey Jersey – Galaxy
6. Navy Kånken Mini
7. Blue Dress w/ Neon Yellow Bow (not exactly NAVY, but this dress is on clearance at Target for $8 & I just LOVE it!)
8. Blue Wooden Bead Teether
9. Navy Greek Key Blanket
10. Navy Striped Tube Socks for Baby (i’m loving that tube socks are back in style!)
11. Polka Dot Bear

Give a Personalized Blanket for a Baby Shower Gift

Hi Mamas! I’m just checking in this evening to chat about baby blankets, on behalf of Babyblankets.com.
How many baby blankets does your baby have? Does he/she have a favorite blanket? Is it made of fleece, cotton, muslin, cashmere, chenille, or my personal favorite baby blanket fabric, organic cotton? You can never have too many baby blankets, don’t you think? I remember when Harper was a baby I had a rotating stack of 6 blankets. I’d often go through two or three blankets each day. She spit up on them or they’d get dirty while running errands. When I’d get behind on laundry I still (thankfully) had a few blankets left in the linen closet. How often do you wash your baby’s blanket?
Because you can never have too many, baby blankets make fabulous baby shower gifts! If you are in the mood to browse, check out BabyBlankets.com. They have a huge variety of baby blanket brands including patterned blankets, high-quality personalized baby blankets for boys & girls including the popular personalized fleece baby blanket. They also carry a great selection of swaddle blankets, receiving blankets, and even sleep sacks. I’ve put together a collection of my personal favorites including some of Babyblanket.com’s best selling baby blankets.

J Crew Spring Flats

I took a few minutes to page through the J Crew catalog this morning. The Mila Ballet Flats are SOOO CUTE!
Aden + Anais

Still shopping? GOOD! I have a few more suggestions for the littlest member of your family. Baby may be too little to have a Christmas toy list, but will really appreciate these things that will keep him cozy and comfortable during his first year in the world!
* Bamboo Swaddles & Bamboo Crib Sheets are made of silky rayon from bamboo fiber muslin. Keep baby cozy all winter with something that is soft on his/her skin. (you can use the swaddles as lightweight blankets & keep one in your diaper bag too!)
* The Serenity Star is the all in one nursery accessory. It’s the first system to combine an electronic feeding diary, room temperature indicator, sound machine, nightlight and clock—all in one. Simplify baby’s room with just one pretty white star that does it all!
* The mum + bub™ skin care line is gentle enough for baby, yet sophisticated enough for you. mum + bub™ is infused with fresh, fermented pawpaw fruit which is known in Australia to relieve, cleanse, and protect that baby soft skin!
It is also free of the following:
phytoestrogen + parabens + added hormone disrupters + petroleum oils + phthalates + dioxanes from sulfates + gluten and soy + petrochemicals + DEA + artificial colors

Anyway, I walked through Nordstroms children’s section & I found the shoes I had been looking for on SALE! Seriously, I looked for these shoes for Rex all summer and I could not find them anywhere. Win a SUPPORi Baby Sling on Here Comes Baby!
We have five SUPPORI Baby Slings to
give away!
Our Suppori Baby Sling review is below to share with Speamint Baby readers. If you would like to win the baby sling then not pop on over to Here Comes Baby Blog to enter to win a SUPPORi baby sling.
Here Comes Baby was asked by Lucky Baby, Japan, to review their innovative and award winning SUPPORI baby sling and of course we were super excited! So we thought we give it to a family to try for the week to give us their honest thoughts and opinions of the baby sling. Lucky Baby recently showcased their baby sling at Playtime 2011 in Paris and walked away with the show award so we want to discover why this baby sling is getting so much attention.
When the SUPPORi baby sling arrived it was packaged so tiny that we wondered how something so small could provide enough support for you and your baby, but it wasn’t long till we were completely won over. The sling feels and looks high quality, the range of colours is brilliant – there is certainly something for everyone including the dads. When you put it on it is comfortable and looks and feels good for your baby too. It is not designed for wearing for a long time but it is definitely handy for situations where you need to be able to quickly carry your baby and have your hands free, for example getting the food shopping, picking up your other children from school… The only negative we could find is that if you and your partner are differing heights then you will have to buy two SUPPORi baby slings. But with the price and colour range you will probably want a colour each anyway!
We love:
- the range of colours – with dad friendly colours too!
- so small that it can be carried in your bag for any occasion
- easy to use & convenient
- machine washable at 40°
-
price £34 to £44 (depends on size)
Things to consider:
- Sizing for differing heights and chest size
- Baby must be able to sit unsupported, up to 13 kg.
- One shoulder design
Janie And Jack Girl’s Winter Hat

Anyone have a little girl in need of a cute winter hat? I bought this hat for Harper last winter and it never fit her. Her head size has always been above average! The hat is a size 4-5, although in my opinion it runs small and would probably fit a 3 year old well. It was never worn and still has original tags attached, $22.
You can post a message here or on my FACEBOOK if interested. I will choose someone by the end of the weekend and mail it out on Monday morning!
Leopard Print Ballet Flats

These are Harper’s new Leopard Print Ballet Flats. Actually we got these back in July, but they were a tad big. They are just right now and have quickly become her FAVORITE shoes! Quite possibly my favorite shoes from Target as well.
Shopping For The Stylish Little Man In My Life
So, I must say as I am thrilled to finally have a little prince after my 4 Little Woman. Yes, I will have 5 kids and yes, one of them is finally a boy! And yes, he was a surprise. But anyway, I am super-excited to finally dress-up with my little man. I am 34 weeks, today! This is a huge milestone for me as my doctor thought I wouldn’t make it past 32 and 3 out of 4 pregnancies have been pre-term. With that said, it has hit me that my guy can come any day now with all this pre-term labor stuff still going on. Read all about THAT here.
Back to why I am SO excited. The boy clothes. They have never really been my favorite. The girls department always takes over the boys department and well, I’ve gotten frustrated when it comes to stocking up with things for him. Thank God for Etsy. However, I was thrilled to put together one outfit that I just can’t WAIT to put the little man in. It’s perfect for Fall yet stylish enough for me. Because well, after 4 very stylish sisters, he has gotta step his game up. With that said, I thought I would share with you a little outfit I put together thanks to some stud-ly finds {yes, I may that word up} from BabyGap + an adorable topping from Petite Peanut Boutique. Every little man has to have a bowtie right? Well, I figured, if he can’t have a bow in his hair, he will definitely be wearing one around his neck.

What’s New at Serena & Lily

Good morning! Hope you all had a nice weekend. This morning I want to share some of the new things at Serena & Lily for FALL. Have you ever shopped there? They have beautiful things for your nursery, child’s room…& even your own bedroom/home.
My favorite accessory at Serena & Lily has always been their beautiful selection of bedding. My picks would be the Sprout Penny Dot Crib Sheet for the nursery & the Border Frame Duvet & Shams for the Master bedroom. The Border Duvet would also be super cute in a little girl’s room. It has such a luxurious look!
Two of my other faves in the fall collection include the Pewter River Rock Rug & the Navy Laurel Lamp. I love the idea of using nursery accessories that can grow with your child. Both of these items could easily transition to a big girl/big boy room. The lamp is also the perfect scale for a child’s night stand.
Now that Harper’s room is almost finished, I’ve been accessorizing A LOT! Serena & Lily was kind enough to send over my FAVORITE accessory for her dresser…the Menagerie Bookends. Stay tuned to see her new giraffes holding some of our FAVORITE bedtime stories!

Crochet Blankets
CROCHET BLANKETS! I cannot get enough of the COLORFUL patterns.
I grew up in a house full of afghans. Pretty much every woman in my extended family knew how to crochet/knit. Unfortunately I never really got into it. Lucky for me, you can find one in pretty much any color combo on Etsy. These are just a few of my current faves!
Do you have any crochet blankets around the house?
Olive Juice SALE

EEEEK! I just found this sale and had to share…
Olive Juice has marked down their entire spring/summer line. Some things are more than 50% off! They have some really cute separates that could be worn in fall/winter as well. I couldn’t find anything over $25!
I picked out 3 things for Harper, since Rex already has sooo many cute things for the upcoming year.

Stuck on You

With the school season approaching, the folks over at Stuck on You sent Harper a fabulous package of personalized stuff. A few of her new things include a “Harper” puzzle, a personalized height chart for her room, & a new workbook (which she LOVES)! Isn’t it fun to have stuff with your name on it?
Stuck on You has a fabulous selection of labels & personalized school supplies. Be sure to follow them on Facebook & Twitter for details about new products & promotions.
Wool Felt Baby Shoes

Are you expecting or know someone that is? Check out Three Potato Four Designs for darling felt baby shoes. I LOVE all of the vibrant color combinations & am currently obsessed with the lemon yellow ones with the blue flower. If I ever have a friend expecting BOY/GIRL twins I’ll get them for GIRL & these for BOY!
What about your next photoshoot of baby? Colorful footwear would make for a great photograph!
& don’t forget about chilly fall evenings. They’ll be here soon and your girl/guy will be so cozy.
P.S. All shoes are made from super smooth and durable 100% wool felt. Fastened by metal snaps & absolutely no glued parts!
Target Flats…CLEARANCE

After shopping the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale, I got really motivated to organize Harper’s fall/winter wardrobe. I took inventory of what still fit her & then made a list of things she needs.
I am pretty obsessed with buying children’s clothing on SALE…either at the end of the season or with coupon codes. So, I thought I’d share these amazing shoe deals at Target. (mary janes as low as $4.98 & patent leather flats for $5.24) Harper had the BLACK Mary Janes when she was 2 yrs and they were sooo cute with leggings!
p.s. i’d been looking for leopard print ballet flats & these were just darling on her feet… & only $12.99

Zazoo Photo Clocks

Have you heard of ZAZOO Photo Clocks? We just got one for my daughter’s bedroom. Harper has decided that 6:45 is a good time to wake up…even on weekends! EEEK, I could use some extra sleep in the morning & these clocks are supposedly the “SOLUTION” for early risers!
The clock has sunshine and moon images to signal day time & night time. It is easy to adjust the clock as your child’s routine changes. You can also personalize it with photos, music, & videos.
Does all of this technologie get overwhelming to anyone else? I’ll let you know how it goes…we are remaining optimistic!
Mini Piccolini: Dressing a Baby Bump for Summer Receptions
I am now well into my third trimester with baby #2 and still struggling to find my fashion groove! On Friday I had two highly-anticipated packages arrive. One from J. Crew with three pair of Cece ballet flats and one from Hatch Collection with two dresses and a jumpsuit. Five of the six pieces have moved into my closet and I’m hoping they will save my summer from a pregnancy-fashion perspective!
I have two pairs of J. Crew Cece ballet flats from before and I always get compliments on them (especially the suede ones in “flame”). I have problems with SPD (symphysis pubic dysfunction) so I’m completely banned from high heels for the duration of my pregnancy and only get to wear anything other than proper running shoes for special occasions. I’m short so my (fairly extensive) shoe collection is mostly made up of really high heels so I needed a few pairs of flats to dress up some outfits for summer. I got the Cece ballet flats in sapphire suede, tawny sand leather, and gold brocade.
I couldn’t resist Hatch Collection’s gorgeous pieces, and I ended up ordering three of them, partly hoping that not all would work out as they are definitely not cheap. I’ll be keeping The Jumper in charcoal silk and The Slouch Dress in cobalt silk. I think (but it’s hard to be sure) that both of these will work even post-pregnancy (though definitely not while breastfeeding which is such a shame).
I have at least two events to attend this week and a couple next week and I am hoping that the Hatch pieces will work for all of these. This evening I’ll be wearing the slouch dress (to a very un-slouchy reception). The dress code is summer elegant but I’m not sure the weather will cooperate. I’ll probably pair it with a double-front blazer from 5th Avenue Shoe Repair, Jeffrey Campbell patent fleur de lis flats (or the new gold ballet flats to make things feel a little more summery), a chunky gold necklace made out of gold chains from my mother’s family or dangly gold earrings, and a Madonna for H&M black patent leather clutch.
And tomorrow I think I will debut the jumper at a less formal family reception. I’ll probably pair it with a cute little cream Club Monaco blazer with asymmetrical zipper and shoulder pads that I’ve had since right before Little A was born and maybe the new blue ballet flats. I’ll have Little A with me (what will he wear??) so I’ll be carrying my diaper bag…

Pottery Barn Kids

Have you visited Pottery Barn Kids lately? Their summer 2012 collection is out and they have so many cute things. So, I was really excited when they asked me to put together some of my favorites. It was HARD to narrow it down to 10!
I ultimately decided to get my little man a chair for his room. He is just starting to show an interest in reading, so I want him to have his own cozy space. I picked the Sherpa My First Anywhere Chair. It is so soft and cute- & Harper loves to sit on it as well!

Doodle Pants

My babies are already too big for these, but for those of you with little ones under 24 months….
Check out the sale on Doodle Pants today on Zulily. There is nothing cuter than a crawler in Doodle Pants!

What is your favorite part of baby? I love kissing those chubby feet! Dress them up this spring in cute baby slippers.
Perchance the Cat

Our newest addition arrived yesterday, & I am not sure who is more excited!…me or Harper? We are redoing her room and have lots of new things coming. Eventually Perchance will sit on the window ledge or maybe even a pink leather pouf? For now she is sitting on our PUT THE LOVE IN THE COCONUT BEACH TOWEL.
Summer Sneakers

Have you seen the fun prints on Bensimon Sneakers this summer? I LOVE that middle pair with the polka dots. Should I splurge for Harper this summer?

Glittery Animals

YES, YES, YES! What a perfect touch to your baby’s nursery. Place a sweet glittery animal on the wall shelf or at the end of his bookcase. So so cute! But be sure to place out of reach once baby starts moving around on his/her own.

I’m not ready for facial hair
I feel like my little guy is growing up too fast already – let’s not rush things!
But I saw this cute mustache pacifier photo on Dollar Store Crafts and suddenly started seeing a plethora of facial hair finds all over the place. I couldn’t escape them even at the doctor’s office (check out this month’s Pregnancy & Newborn magazine for more mustache mania).
I’m definitely getting a mustache picture though!

New Leather Pouch :)

Do you carry a large diaper bag or handbag? My favorite bag to carry with my toddlers is my Larch Bag. It is big enough for diapers & wipes, a tupperware container with snacks, and of course a lot of my own personal items.
The only problem with this bag is that lipglosses, perfumes, sunglasses, etc always end up somewhere at the bottom of the bag and I am always digging around forever trying to find what I need!
Problem is solved!…I found this adorable purple leather pouch by Rebecca Minkoff. I’d been looking forever for something that I would love and ended up purchasing this off of eBay. What did anyone do before eBay?

I ALWAYS have roll on perfumes in my handbag. They are easy to carry and can freshen you up in a jiffy after chasing your toddlers at the park! My favorite scent is pink grapfruit. You can find a lot of fun scents on Etsy.

& here is my cute new pouch peeking out of my Larch bag. I love the splash of purple next to the dark brown leather!
Gap Toddler Sneakers

I think they look great (& he seems to love them as well)…I am thinking about stopping by to see if they have any more left in the next size up. These are too cute (& cheap) to have for only one season!
P.S. they also come in navy
Gap Sneakers

We picked up these darling new shoes for Rex over the weekend. They have zippers on the sides so you do not have to untie them every time you slip on/off. The Gap is having a huge sale and they were marked down to $10.49! I could not find them on the website, so I am assuming that they are sold out online -you may have to check your local store. I cannot tell you how cute they look on toddler feet!
