36 Week Birth Story – HOME Delivery!

My son Gavin is turning one next Wednesday. I am finally putting the finishing touches on his birth story and thought I would share his much unexpected birth story. Enjoy! Kari
Dear Gavin,
Your dad and I took a 16 hour birth class in preparation for your arrival. We hoped to bring you into this world naturally and in the water. Your birth was not what either of us expected. It is hard for me to remember a lot of the details still today- probably because I was in so much shock. But, it is your story and I am here to tell it best that I can. (more…)
31 Week Maternity Photos

Hi!
I have loved spearmint baby since way before we even considered kids. I love the various content and frequent your site for ideas. This is my first pregnancy with a little unnamed boy. These are my 31 week maternity photos and we had a great photographer. It’s been a smooth pregnancy with no real complaints. My major craving has been cereal. I can’t get enough of it! Ashley

32 Week Birth Story

Thank you for your wonderful blog. I have always been a researcher and a planner, and pregnancy was no different. I sought out resources online that would prepare me for the personal side of motherhood – what will my body look like? I’m in great shape – will labor really be that tough? (for the record, yes!) and on and on… I would check in once a week or so to scroll through the stories and pictures posted on your website, and found great relief in the knowledge so many strong women have shared! I felt compelled to return the favor. Here is our birth story: (more…)
photo of the day

Hi Shari,
I took this photo of my baby boy and I the day he turned 11 months. He turns 1 on Feb 15th. I love how big he is, yet is so tiny all scrunched up in my arms. He turns 1 next month, so I’m trying to catch as many of these little moments that I can.
As always, thanks for such a great blog with some great inspiration,
Jamie

DIY – 1st Birthday Party Hat

In the run up to my daughters 1st Birthday I will be sharing some tutorials with you all. With only a few months to go, I’d better my craft on! Today I will be showing you how to make your very own super cute party hat. These are perfect for any birthday party and also for adorable cake smash photos!
How to make your own party hats:
Supplies Needed:
-Glitter cardstock (or your choice of colour)
-Glue gun and sticks
-Paper Party Hat template
- Marabou Fur Feather Trim
-Sting/elastic
-Decorations of your choice
Step 1. Lay out your paper hat template and trace around it onto the back of your choice of card stock. I used a pink glitter as I’m doing a pink theme.
Step 2. Reassemble the card the same way of the template and using your hot glue gun glue the edges together. Also take off the elastic from the party hat and attach it to your new one. You can also use ribbon here if you wish.
Step 3. Now glue on your Marabou fur around the bottom and make a ball at the top. (or any other trimmings your are using)
Step 4. Using some other card stock cut out the number 1 and glue that down on the center of the hat. You could also print out a template to use if you don’t have steady hands.
And there you have it! Easy peasy! Now go and take some adorable photos!
I’ll be back soon with another tutorial. In the meantime – are you planning a birthday party or baby shower?
I’d love to know!
