La Tente

LA TENTE tents are made by Caroline Gomez. I love the simplicity of them– the cute window, colorful ribbons, and ease of storage. & Isn’t it cute with the fur rug inside?
P.S. Did you know you can BUY OLEBY Faux Sheepskins like this at IKEA for only $4.99 each? (They are not on IKEA’s website.)
26 Week Baby Belly

Hi!
I have just recently found your blog and love it so much! This picture is of me and my Dad, on our Annual Family Summer Vacation at Edisto Beach, South Carolina. I am 26 weeks pregnant with my third child, my husband and I have 2 sweet girls (3 years and 12 months), and this will be our first BOY! Dad and I decided to cool off in the water and compare our tummies! I have had wonderful pregnancies, but this is my first one as a full time stay at home mom which keeps me VERY busy!
Again, I love your blog and read it everyday. I love reading about “mama and baby stuff” too, and this blog is perfect!
Thanks-
Amanda Luton

Birth Story (Twins @ 28 Weeks)

“Thursday was officially my ‘turn over’ day, from one week of pregnancy to the next. Meaning I had been 28 weeks pregnant for all of 24 hours when all Hell broke loose.”
Kelly Westover, Kellywestover.com
I’d been suffering from Intrahepatic Collestasis of Pregnancy which was making me so itchy I could barely handle it during the day, but I could also literally not sleep at night. It had started the previous Wednesday so I had not slept soundly, or really at all for an entire week, and had only just been medicated and properly dealt with for one evening. One evening of actual sleep, of non-itchy, of rest. I was a bit delirious from the lack of rest that evening. My brain was reeling from all of the over stimulation, and my body was still flushing out all of the extra bile salts. I was in and out of the bathroom multiple times that evening, but I was still able to actually sleep which was such a blessing.
A blessing and a curse. Because at the same time that my body was finally healing it was also going into distress. I remember not being able to sleep on my left side that night because of a bit of light cramping. I remember waking up with soaked underwear and thinking ‘did I not remove it properly the last time I went potty?’. I remember quickly changing it and falling blissfully back to sleep. And then at around 6am Quinton came in and began our usual morning wake-up routine. He climbed into bed with us and snuggled for a good hour. Then he and I got up and made eggs and toast. I fed him breakfast while I hopped on a quick conference call. One more stop to the bathroom reminded me of the wet underwear which I inspected and found to be a bit bloody. My heart stopped. Literally stopped. (more…)
Black & White Prints

If you are looking for some black & white art for your nursery, check out Little Studio. My favorite is the perfectly imperfect APPLE! So cute and wholesome for the wall.
P.S. There has been research done that suggests that newborn babies can be calmed by black and white images, patterns, and shapes!
P.P.S a black and white book recommendation
photo of the day

We would LOVE for you to pick our wonderful grandchild who
Is the light of our life to be the photo of the day. His mother
Had just walked into the room when I took this, and nothing
Makes Nolan light up like his mother does!
Sincerely,
Laurie S

Wallpapered Nursery

If you’ve been following my Inspired by Wallpaper series you know I have a bit of an obsession lately. I grew up with a wallpapered bedroom- maybe it’s nostalgic?
This nursery was decorated by Rachel of Lifeslittleembellishments.wordpress.com. She used Orla Kiely’s Multi Stem wallpaper on the accent wall. I love how nice it looks with the peachy pink painted walls.
Rachel mixed both vintage & modern elements in the room while keeping it easy on the budget. The thing that really blew my mind was that vintage light fixture…Rachel’s friend found it at GOODWILL for $6!! WOW!

The attached photo is from a 6 month portrait session with baby girl, Harper. She hugged her little bear without any prompting!

Colored Duct Tape

I was walking through the paint section of Home Depot over the weekend & this gorgeous neon pink duct tape jumped out at me. I had no idea that duct tape came in so many pretty colors. Did you?
When I got home I googled colored duct tape and I found all of these cool craft projects. Here are a few of my favorites by Merrilee from Mermag.blogspot.com. Her projects are sooo sooo cute & she’s included the instructions for all of them. Merrilee also has some great tips about working with duct tape with children.
