your weekend

tumbler, original source unknown

good morning! i just dropped Harper off at preschool and it is an absolutely gorgeous day!! before i had children i was known to sleep through the entire morning, but nowadays i enjoy morning time so much. spring mornings are so refreshing when the air is still crisp, and birds are chirping.

John left for China again on Wednesday so we’ll miss him this weekend. BUT, i do have really exciting plans tonight…a date with my DVR for the Royal Wedding. did you see it yet? i am so anxious to tuck the kids in bed tonight. i’ve always loved the handsome princes and was a huge fan of their pretty Mama. i’m sure Diana would be so proud of her sons -if only she was here to see them all grown up and starting families of their own.

BTW: if you didn’t already know, 2 of our contributing editors have been nominated in categories on Circle of Moms:
Lauren of With Two Cats & Inessa of Diaper Style Memoirs. Please vote for them everyday.

Cloth Diapering Twins

Eeek! We finally took the plunge. My husband and I have been talking about buying cloth diapers since I became pregnant, but we just kept putting off actually buying them.
Since you almost have to spend a few hundred dollars to build up your stash, it just always seemed like too much money at the time, even though we knew we’d save a ton in the long run.
But we finally, finally spent the money and got the diapers.

And seriously, just for these pictures it was worth it. Have you ever seen such cute little baby booties?

Even though the boys are eight weeks old (tomorrow!) they only barely graduated from newborn diapers, and when we cracked open that first package of size 1 Huggies I almost cried.
I felt like I was wrapping the boys in crackling newspaper. The diapers weren’t soft and I felt so guilty that they’d be rubbing Grey and Micah in their most sensitive areas.
That’s the day we decided enough was enough, and finally got online and pressed the Add to Cart button.

So now we’re parents in the cloth diapering world, with little to no experience with cloth diapers… but we’re excited.
For those of you who cloth diaper your babies (or baby), do you have any tricks or favorite diapers?
And what’s the reason you do it? Money? The environment? Because regular diapers just aren’t soft enough for your perfect baby?

Check out more pics and tales of Grey and Micah on my blog at babymakingbybecky.blogspot.com

and leave your advice and opinions in the comments!

5 Looks for Boys

I love to incorporate basics into my children’s wardrobe. But sometimes it’s a bit hard to imagine all of the looks you can create with just a simple pair of shorts or a plain t-shirt. So I have created a little guide that will hopefully show you how to wear a basic piece 5 different ways. Today I am sharing with you 5 looks for boys featuring an inexpensive pair of super stylish denim capris from Zara Kids. Enjoy!

show us your BABY BUMP!

Hi SB~

I thought I’d throw my bump into contention for the Show Your Bump feature (which I love).

My first pic (the bad attitude pic) is a reflection of how it really feels to be 33 weeks pregnant. Constant back aches, pain under the ribs, baby kicking the heck out of my vital organs, a bladder that feels so full it’s going to burst (only to kindly release about 2 ounces of fluid after all), heartburn that would scare a dragon, etc.

The second pic is the “I’m so happy I’m pregnant” pic that we all know and love. And I am. I am having my little son, Brixton, sometime around May 18th and I absolutely can’t wait! I never thought I wanted kids, but this experience has been amazing…not only am I changing physically, but inside I’m morphing into my version of a mommy.

Wishing all the pregnant mommies-to-be a safe and healthy pregnancy!
Kelley
