teaching ABCs to a toddler

i am by no means an expert, but these educational toys have worked really well for me. Harper (my 21 month old daughter) knows all the uppercase letters. she cannot pronounce them all yet, but if i ask her to bring me a letter she can almost always identify it. she can also pick out letters on street signs, product packaging, and in her books. we have now started working on the lowercase alphabet (and she knows about 10 so far).

LOVE these flashcards. they have both uppercase and lowercase letters on each card with an animal or picture of a corresponding object. each card has a fun texture to touch and feel. we keep these in our stroller and take them with us on picnics in the park. my daughter LOVES to organize them in the storage box.

we use this magnetic alphabet board and letters ALL THE TIME! while she sits and waits for her breakfast she loves to hold up the letters that i ask for and then stick them on the board. the set comes with the uppercase and lowercase alphabet as well as all of the numbers. there are also repeats of many commonly used letters. it comes with chalk, but we haven’t used it yet. (your toddler will enjoy playing with these on the fride)

we don’t have this ball yet, but i am thinking about purchasing it. does anyone else have it? i think it would be a great outdoor activity ball to play with while learning.
