DIY wall decals

i felt a little crafty over the weekend so i decided to try making wall decals. (i have seen so many of you make your own)
i have a bit of a raindrop obsession at the moment. rexford has black raindrops on his crib wall:

so i decided to do matching raindrops for harper’s room (only in fun colors!)
supplies i used:
cardstock paper (i highly recommend a lighter weight scrapbooking paper)
mod podge
sponge brush
contact paper
scissor
stencil/cricket machine/or a free hand design (i made a raindrop stencil)
here is the cardstock paper i used (from Jo-Ann’s Fabrics)

here are some of the colors i used.

i made a raindrop stencil and traced it onto the contact paper side. the cloud i just cut freehand until i had the shape i wanted. (you could also use a cricket machine):

cut out your design:

lay out your design:

peel off the stickers and VOILA!

a few notes:
the cardstock paper i used was too heavy. it was really hard to get it to stick to the contact paper with mod podge alone. i had to reseal a lot of the stickers with super glue! i would recommend a lighter weight scrapbook paper for this project.
i have also repositioned my raindrops on the wall with no problem. none of the paint came off when i peeled the stickers off the wall. the contact paper also stayed sticky.
the possibilities for this project are limitless! have fun!
