question from a reader…
where is this bedding fabric from? (to see more of this nursery visit deucecitieshenhouse.blogspot.com)
thanks to another reader, we have figured this out:
heatherbaileystore.com, POP DAISY – turquoise. they have some absolutely gorgeous fabrics. i might have to order some for myself!
Featured Nursery – gender neutral
a very inspiring, whimsical nursery by designers Teresa of artandlightgallery.com and Barb of knackstudios.com via designsponeonline.com

Here is a little background from Lisa, the owner of the home:
“I didn’t know the sex of the baby before it arrived so i needed a gender-neutral room. I also wanted something affordable, practical, and different. We live on a street with huge trees and I decided to continue the forest theme. The owl pillow (~$60) is from my friend’s store, Kudzu at 864.271.4888, and represents the big owl that used to hoo hoo hoo in the tree outside the baby’s room. The opossum painting is by an artist named cornbread bought at oliversfolk.com and is a tribute to the opossum family that used to live underneath the nursery. The twin bed, nightstand, and dresser were my grandmother’s and Barb stripped them down and refinished them. I have another twin bed that will replace the crib in years to come.
The trees are vinyl (mark james), and the mobile that has forest animals with party hats (with French text on the reverse side) was handmade by Royal Buffet — both on Etsy. The bulletin board i picked up at an antique store for $25 and the green wardrobe from an antique store too. The squirrel pillows and the beaded wire light fixture (in the bathroom) were made by Barb with hubby Jon assisting. The rocker is the most comfortable chair in the house and is the preferred feeding spot. It is from fawnandforest.com. The lamps and overhead screen fixture were selected by my designer Teresa (along with many other ocmponents) and i believe are all from local artists, including paige carraway.”

a new book i just bought….
i have been trying to find this book in it’s original french language but i couldn’t justify the $45+ price tag so i decided that the english version would do ($12.50 was much more affordable).
mouk is a bear who journeys around the world. the book is absolutely stunning with illustrations by Marc Boutavant. i think my daughter will have so much fun with mouk as soon as she is old enough to read books without tearing the pages!
Rocky… my new chenille scottie dog
i have always wanted a scottie dog from Vintage Chenille and my new pup just arrived! Rocky is green and orange and is going to be so cute in the new nursery.

pups come in all kinds the pretty colors and if you are not a dog person check out the chenille elephants, birdie rattles, and babushka dolls…

my orange nursery inspiration…
i saw this nursery on Design Sponge and the orange armoire inspired me to add some orange to my son’s nursery.

i am painting an old bookcase that i would have otherwise gotten rid of.
here is a preview with the first coat of paint. i hope to have it done by next week and i will be sure to post some photos!
red riding hood capelets and hats
absolutely adorable…a perfect accessory for springtime. i would love to find a pattern and learn how to make little capes with my sewing machine. you can find all of these capes and matching hats for sale at Les Zigouis
