Featured DIY – butterfly mobile

an adorable butterfly mobile by Courtney. stop by her Etsy store for more.
“I used cardstock and I cut them out by hand. I just searched for a butterfly pattern on the internet and then made a stencil.
I found the rings at Hobby Lobby and then just used what I would call fishing line to string each butterfly from the rings. After each butterfly was attached I tied a knot after it to keep it from moving. I think it would look really neat if you used stars as well.”

  1. this is so lovely.. i am going to do this! x

  2. Cute! Martha Stewart sells some really cute punches that would work well for a project like this too.

  3. That is so cool. I made my daughters mobile from ribbon. It is really cool but I wish I did this instead.

  4. I was just about to post a picture about a mobile that I saw a Pottery Barn Kids that was JUST like this! Great job! I am going to do one as well, but hope to find a punch instead of cutting by hand. I bet that took forever!

    It looks great!

  5. Great idea! I was wondering if that metal ring came as one single piece or were three different ones? I need to start making one for my baby due in June, thought to reconfirm before I head to Hobby Lobby:-)

    Hope you will reply soon,

    Thanks,
    Sb

  6. sb, you can acually purchase these as 3 separate rings at any craft store. not sure that they sell them together.

  7. Just came back to your website only today. Thanks for your response. I instead used a metal wreath frame that I got from craft store.
    Thanks again,
    sb
